In the course of his work, I conducted several taxonomic studies on amphibians and reptiles. In doing so, I managed to describe a good number of new species, in accordance with the tradition of natural history museum curators. In particular, I had the unique opportunity to describe a new species of urodelo of the genus Salamandra for the Cottian Alps, Salamandra lanzai. I then described many new species from Madagascar, often in collaboration with other researchers.
